Before analysing the public and private health care, firstly one should know what health care is. Health care is the process of treatment or the level of medical coverage that is provided to an individual.
Public and private health care are both different types of health care plans but they both aim at providing the best and the most affordable type of health care to individuals. The only difference is that the public health care is run by public or government non-profit organisations whereas the private health care is run by profit generating organisation who take money from people and in return they insure them against any unforeseen accidents or injuries.
As public health care plan is run by non-profit organisations usually government itself therefore the health care provided to all citizens is normally free of cost or very minimal cost is associated with the type of health care that individuals receive. It is basically a type of insurance that is available to all citizens and any premium generated through such type of insurance service goes to the government which uses these funds to cover the costs associated with the health care plan.
On the other hand, as private health care is run by profit generating organisations therefore every single individual is given right to choose a plan that suits his needs and requirements. The type of coverage and the amount of payable premium can be adjusted as desired. Although private health insurance offers more services and more coverage as compared to the public health care but at the same time the payable amount of premium is much higher than the public health care premium.
Lastly, both public and private health care plans go hand in hand with each other and there is a certain amount of balance which is required between the two for the smooth flow of economy. Although many countries have good public health care system and people don’t have to rely on private health care at all. But it has been observed that with the privatization of certain public health facilities the quality of public health care has improved a lot.
